In this course, students will complete a capstone project that integrates geomatics technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and spatial analysis to address disaster risk reduction challenges. Students will work independently or in teams on a research project that applies theoretical concepts learned in earlier courses, with a focus on real-world problems related to disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, or recovery. Students will conduct fieldwork, analyze geospatial data, and produce a final practicum paper that includes their methodology, results, and recommendations for improving disaster resilience. The course concludes with a presentation of their final project, providing an opportunity for students to demonstrate their comprehensive understanding of geomatics applications in disaster risk reduction.
