This course introduces students to the principles and practices of risk and vulnerability assessment using geo-information systems (GIS). The course covers advanced techniques in spatial analysis with ArcGIS Pro and Quantum GIS to assess risks associated with natural hazards, such as floods, earthquakes, and landslides. Students will also learn how to evaluate community vulnerability based on socio-economic, environmental, and infrastructure data. Emphasis will be placed on real-world applications, interactive learning, and using GIS tools for data analysis, modeling, and visualization to support disaster risk reduction and climate resilience planning.
