This course introduces students to the concepts, methodologies, and tools for modeling natural hazards using ArcGIS Pro and Quantum GIS. Students will explore various types of natural hazards (e.g., floods, landslides, earthquakes, and hurricanes), focusing on data acquisition, hazard assessment, risk analysis, and mitigation strategies. Interactive learning activities, long assignments, and a final project allow students to gain hands-on experience in geospatial analysis, hazard mapping, and scenario-based risk modeling. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply geospatial techniques for hazard modeling across multidisciplinary contexts.
